Ricky Stenhouse Jr. held off Sprint Cup drivers Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski to win Sunday's NASCAR Race Nationwide Series in Iowa, becoming the first regular series to pick up a victory this season.
Edwards who won the Sprint Cup All-Star Race had finished Keselowski, he also captured the inaugural Nationwide for the Motor Racing event at Lowa in the year of 2009.
"I'm very happy for Ricky," Keselowski said. "It's good to see a Nationwide regular come out there and win a race. It's been a little while."
“Just to come away with a victory is nice; I’m relieved,” Stenhouse said.
Stenhouse took the lead from Edwards 233 laps in the 250-lap event at Iowa Speedway and held the only Cup driver in his first career Nationwide win.
McDowell was seventh and Herring finished 12th.
Steammates Stenhouse and Edwards exchanged the lead several times down the stretch, but fell Stenhouse truly endless and Edwards for more than four seconds.
