Jim Tressel did not begin his term of office, the replay of
the game as a consultant to the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh game regular
season.
Colts president Bill Polian said the Vice move came at the
suggestion of former Ohio State coach, after discussions over the weekend.
On Monday morning Polian said "In addition, we had a
conversation with league officials to apprise them of the details of Coach
Tressel's employment and the issues we were reviewing, with respect to the
equity of his appointment as opposed to suspensions being served this season by
present and former Ohio State players."
Tressel was hired Friday by the Colts as consultant by day
Thursday to help determine when the team plays should challenge for more on College Football
Betting
Polian in the news release said"We have informed the
league office of our decision and expect that they will be supportive of it. We
are very happy Coach Tressel will be joining us."
Coach Jim Caldwell said Friday that the new role Tressel was
a position he wanted to fill in recent years.
Tressel was actively seeking employment after resigning from
the State of Ohio, on May 30 amid a scandal involving damage to the NCAA. He
had been in practice in Cleveland and Indianapolis Colts recently attended
pre-season final on Thursday in Cincinnati.
But his work with the Colts, Caldwell said, should be
restricted to game days as coach.
