UFC/MMA: Brock Lesnar beat the undefeated Shane Carwin last saturday night to become the best UFC/MMA heavyweight in the world. Many MMA betting fans, including this one, had their doubts about Lesnar coming back from a digestive disease and a year off to beat the terrific Carwin.
Carwin had shown the ability to knockout his opponent’s in the past and he had, supposedly, staying power. He was also geared up for this fight and appeared to be catching Lesnar at the perfect time.
Lesnar’s doubters were wrong. Although money flowed in on Carwin late so that both fighters went off at -115, Lesnar ended up looking like the original -145 UFC/MMA bet that he had been earlier in the week.
He forced Carwin to submit at 2:19 of Round 2 with an arm-triangle choke.
The fight didn’t start out that way. Carwin looked like he was going to knock Lesnar out early on in the fight, but by the beginning of Round 2, Carwin had lost his legs. There’s no shame to Shane’s game, however, and he remains one of the top heavyweights in the world.
But at the end of Saturday night, it was all about Brock Lesnar and his amazing fighting skills and even more more amazing heart. Because Fedor Emelinanko suffered a loss a couple of week’s ago to Fabricio Werdum, there’s no doubt anymore, Brock Lesnar is the best heavyweight in the world.
Well, unless you’re an Alistair Overeem or Cain Velasquez fan.
Here are the future UFC Betting Odds & Predictions.
UFC 117
Thiago Alves -130 vs. Jon Fitch -110 and Anderson Silva -450 vs. Chael Sonnen +275
UFC 118
BJ Penn -350 vs. Frankie Edgar +250 and Randy Couture -650 vs. James Toney +375
Alves, Silva and Chonnen are on the same card at UFC 117. Penn, Edgar and Couture are on the same card at UFC 118. That’s what I call great competition!
