Henin, who won French Open titles in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007, has kept a busy schedule in her return to action as she has taken part in seven events this year, including the Australian Open, where she finished runner-up to Serena Williams.

The 27 year old has produced a 21-6 record in singles play and even captured a title at the clay courts in Stuttgart. Henin beat Australian Samantha Stosur in the final there 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 to give her her 42nd career tournament victory.

Henin, who has won seven Grand Slams, lost in the first round of her last event, falling to France's Aravane Rezai 6-4, 5-7, 0-6 on the clay at Madrid.

Tsvetana Pironkova, who hails from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, comes into today's match with a 22-12 2010 singles record. The 22 year old last saw action in mid-May when she reached the quarterfinals on the clay at Warsaw before losing to Alexandra Dulghera 4-6, 5-7. Pironkova also showed well at Stuttgart, where she lost to Jelena Jankovic in the round of 16 2-6, 2-6.

Pironkova will be playing in her fifth French Open when she takes to the court today; she has never advanced past the second round in her previous four trips to Roland Garros.

Henin and Pironkova have squared off on three other occasions, the last being on the carpet at Antwerp in 2008. Henin emerged victorious in all three of those matches.
