NFL Betting: Redskins-Haynesworth Spat A Distraction

The move isn’t sitting well with players on the team.

“Albert made a very selfish decision. When you decide to play a team sport, you have to look at it and think about everybody involved in the situation. This is not golf, tennis, things like that, where it’s an all-about-you sport. What he’s decided to do is make a decision based on all-about-him,” Washington LB London Fletcher told ESPN.

“It’s no different than his attitude and approach to last year’s defense, about wanting everything to revolve around him and him making plays. And if it didn’t benefit him, he wasn’t really willing to do it.”

DE Phillip Daniels echoed Fletcher’s sentiments.

“I think I speak for every guy on this team: We all feel like he turned his back on us,” he said.

The Redskins’ brass is unhappy with the defensive tackle as well as they paid him a $21 million bonus in April — which he happily accepted — and he failed to show for the recent practice sessions.

While there are reports that suggest the team will try to recoup the money from Haynesworth, they might be better served by just letting him go to avoid anymore distractions.

The Redskins are already a long shot in a number of props and futures.

They are listed at +500 to take the NFC East, +1600 to win the NFC championship and +3500 to win the Super Bowl.

Washington opens up the 2010 regular season at home against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night and is listed as a 3.5-point underdog with the Total at 43.5.

They haven’t done well when hosting Dallas, going 4-8 straight up and 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 games at home against the Cowboys.
