On Monday 21 June Portugal will take on North Korea at 13:30 at the Cape Town Stadium. The event management for this match will be substantially different to that of the previous matches as this match takes place during the day, while the others have been evening matches.Portugal vs North Korea
The City therefore appeals to the public to avoid the city centre as far as possible on Monday. Road closures will be put into place four hours before kick-off at 09:30 and will only be lifted at 20:00 on Monday evening. The road closures overlap peak morning and peak afternoon traffic periods and fans will be leaving the stadium just before the afternoon peak traffic period. This will have a significant effect on traffic in town.
Residents in the Cape Town CBD, Green Point, Mouille Point and Sea Point are also reminded of the changes to the refuse removal service as a result of Monday’s early kick-off. Due to road closures, the Solid Waste Management Department will service the affected areas before 09:00, but will not be able to return later in the day. The City therefore requests that businesses and residents along the route please place their wheelie bins outside for collection by 06:00 on Monday 21 June.
