NBA Western Conference Finals Game 2 tips off tonight at 9 PM est, and most people have already written off the Phoenix Suns in this series.
And unfortunately, so have I.
I don’t want to. Steve Nash is my hero. He’s warrior. He deserves a championship, more than anybody I can think of…almost ever.
But alas, I don’t think he’s going to get one. Not this year anyway. They made a valiant effort, but the Phoenix Suns are just not built to beat the Lakers. It’s not necessarily a Kobe thing, or a Nash thing. It’s a match-ups thing. And the Lakers are just a bad match-up for the Suns. In fact the Spurs would be having a better go of it with the Lakers in this series, and so would the Mavericks. And even though the Suns could beat either time on any given day, over seven games without home court, it’s just not possible against these Lakers.
The Suns do have a hope in hell, if for some reason their outside shooting game becomes the most lethal it has ever been, and it stays that way for five games straight, they might have a chance. But I don’t see that happenning.
NBA Western Conference Final Odds – Game 2
Phoenix Suns +7 @ Los Angeles Lakers -7 O/U 216
In game one, Phoenix was allwed to play the style that got them here…by out scoring opponents. They scored like crazy, and STILL got crushed by 20 points. If your entire strategy plays out perfectly, and you get beaten by it…you’re in deep.
Prediction: Lakers (-7)
