UFC 117 Preview: Thiago Alves vs Jon Fitch

After having surgery in brain Thiago Alves is back in to the game and his first game against Jon Fitch.
The two have been set to fight at UFC 107 and UFC 111 but both fell through because of injury, the latter when Alves’ brain condition was discovered.

Alves is now back in training and focused on avenging some career losse, starting with Fitch and then if he wins, Georges St. Pierre.

“I have nearly nine weeks to prepare for my next fight. Once I’m back in training, I will spend three weeks working my technical game, and then get in some hard training. I saw what Fitch’s plan was [at UFC 111]. I am ready for him. I was happy I saw his fight with Ben Saunders,” Alves tells Fighters Only.

“I also saw GSP’s game [against Dan Hardy] - he’s just about takedowns now. He has great timing, but he’s not taking any chances. I don’t blame him for that. When I meet him again, I’ll have a much better strategy.”

Alves’ rematch with Fitch has now been scheduled for UFC 117 which takes place in Oakland, California on August 7th. The latest UK edition of Fighters Only Magazine is out now and features a massive in-depth interview with Alves, including detailed information on the cutting-edge surgery he underwent for his condition.
