3 World Cup 2010 Soccer - Dark Horses Bet - 2010 World Cup Betting Odds

Every World Cup there are always a few teams that shock the world.

I don’t mean that they go out and win the tournament outright, but they advance through the groups stages or into the quarterfinals. Whether it’s the Koreans and Japanese advancing deep, or the Italians winning the tournament outright, there are always going to be some dark horse – and very profitable – teams to bet on in every World Cup.

You don’t necessarily have to bet on these fringe teams to win it all, but you need to know that there are teams getting through that aren’t supposed to, and there is a ton of money to be made off these often neglected teams with great World Cup betting odds.

Here are three to bank on:

Italy – Not expected to repeat, struggled through qualifying…then got themselves a draw in Group F alongside Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia. A group that they could be runners-up in in their sleep. Advancing out of this group stage is a gift, and to top it all of the advancing teams from Group F move on the play the winner or runner up to Group E, a group featuring Denmark, Japan, Camaroon and the Netherlands. Only the Dutch can be considered top tier World Cup contenders. So by default of their group placement, it is very conceivable to see the Italians advance almost easily into the Quarter-Finals. Maybe not Champions, but you’ll be able to make money along the way.

Ghana – Ivory Coast would have been a legitimate “homer” pick, but with the Drogba injury and the Ivory Coast in this years Group of Death, this is a great spot for Ghana to at least advance into the elimination stage. Unlike Italy, seeing them past the first round outside of the group stage is highly unlikely, but there is great money in them advancing out of there group.

Chile – Somebody has to advance behind Spain in Group H. The Spanish are coming into the World Cup on fire, and will have little trouble with Chile, the Swiss or Honduras, but the Chileans have a great shot at coming in a distant second and advancing out out of the group. Unfortunately they will be facing the winner of the Group of Death, but bet on the Chileans getting out of the group stage.
